Program Director

Mr. Martinez is the Program Director of a 200-bed shelter for single men, CHI’s largest facility for singles. Mr. Martinez comes with over 20 years of experience in housing and human services and a passion for bringing healing to people who have been through a traumatic or stressful experience. Previously, Mr. Martinez was the Program Director for a shelter with 288 units for families with children, Program Director of a supported housing program for 190 individuals suffering from mental health and substance use issues, and a transitional housing program for 55 individuals living with HIV/AIDS. Mr. Martinez was also the Program Coordinator at Riker’s Island correctional facility where he assisted many gang members leave their gangs and pursue job trade certifications and a new lifestyle.

Mr. Martinez’s mission is to help clients find a healthy perception of themselves and strengthen their mindset to believe there is hope. With the understanding that there is no single approach that works for everyone, He employs a host of modalities such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma base approach, reflective listening, psychodynamic therapy to help and guide clients in the right direction.

Mr. Martinez earned a Master’s in Social Work from Fordham University and is CASAC-T certified. He is currently seeking to obtain his Social Work license.
